Imphal, July 23 2024:
One day after a report of a Meetei house being bombed and razed to the groun in Churachandpur was published in different dailies, the owner of the house has lodged a complaint with the Imphal police station to register a Zero FIR and take up legal actions against the demolition of his four-storey building at Khumujamba Meitei Leikai in Churachandpur.
Dated July 23 and addressed to the Officer-in Charge of Imphal police station, Naorem Ibomcha (43), the complainant, said that he has been taking refuge at a relief camp at Phubala in Bishnupur since May 3, 2023 due to 'communal attack' by Kuki-Zo people in Churachandpur.
Ibomcha said that he came across a viral video of his four-storey building at Khumujamba Meitei Leikai being demolished by Kuki miscreants using explosives on social media on July 21, 2024 .
Saying that the viral video shows the building being demolished surgically by wrapping highly explosive substances to the pillars, the complainant added that he suspects involvement of people in trained demolition activity in bombing his house.
He also stated that his house was situated just one kilometre from Churachandpur police station and two and a half kilometres from the office of the district SP.
Further stating that he heard some people talking in Paite dialect, the complainant claimed that he recognised one of the voices and it was one Gillajem alias Junior Jemz (27), s/o Donglemthang Vaiphei who is a resident of Bewlaland in Churachandpur.
He continued that the house of Gillajem is located just a few distance away from Khumujamba Meitei Leikai.
Continuing that a man with a mask was also seen in the video demolishing his house and Gillajem was recording the entire episode.
The video of the demolition of his house was posted on a Facebook page called "Zomi News Flash" and the same was forwarded to Whatsapp from a mobile number +918413851755, he claimed.
Reminding that the Supreme Court had passed an order on August 7 last year to the Centre and the State Government to protect lives and properties of all the people of Manipur, Ibomcha added that the Churachandpur DC and SP, however, didn't take any action to protect his properties.
He then urged the Officer-in Charge of Imphal police station to register a Zero FIR against the Kuki miscreants as well as the Churachandpur SP and DC by invoking the most appropriate section and forward the FIR to the police station concerned to take up necessary legal action.
