Based on specific intelligence regarding ferrying of contraband drugs on NH�102, troops of 24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) apprehended an individual along with contraband drugs at Khudengthabi post of Chandel district on Feb 20 .
According to a statement issued by the PRO of IGAR (S), the suspected vehicle, bearing registration number WB 02X 7136 travelling from Imphal to Moreh was stopped for checking and a thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 2.770 kgs of Ganja worth Rs 1,38,500, one mobile phone, one voter card and a driving license.
The apprehendee was identified as Surenjoy Singh (26) S/o Amuba Singh of Mayang Imphal.
He was the driver of the vehicle.
The apprehendee along with the recovered items have been handed over to Tengnoupal police station, it added.

Meanwhile, troops of Red Shield Division apprehended one arms peddler of HPC (D) from general area of Aina, Churachandpur on Feb 19 .
A statement issued by the PRO (Defence), Imphal said that based on specific input from source regarding the transportation of arms from Churachandpur to Senvon, troops of Red Shield Division immediately launched an operation on Feb 19 .
The party stopped a Tata DI bearing registration number MN 02 A 6893 plying from Churachandpur to Senvon at around 12.45 pm.
On carrying out a detailed search of the vehicle the driver was apprehended and arms and ammunition were recovered, it said.
Further questioning of the driver revealed that a HPC (D) cadre based at Churachandpur handed over the arms and ammunition to him and directed him to transport it till Senvon, the statement said.
One double barrel gun, one 9 mm pistol, one magazine of 9 mm pistol, 12 live rounds of 9 mm pistol and two pouches of illicit liquor were recovered from the driver's possession at the time of the apprehension.
The apprehendee along with the recoveries were handed over to Henglep PS, it added.
