Imphal, August 21 2020: Whereas Chief Minister N Biren and BJP Manipur Pradesh president Prof S Tikendra stayed back at Delhi awaiting discharge of Union Home Minister Amit Shah from AIIMS Delhi, Works Minister Th Biswajit returned to Imphal today.

On his arrival at Imphal airport, Biswajit was tested for COVID-19 and he was found negative.

Together with six ex-MLAs who resigned from their post and Congress party recently, Chief Minister Biren went to Delhi a few days back.

Shortly after, S Tikendra and Th Biswajit left Imphal for Delhi on the invitation of BJP Central leaders.

Out of the six ex-MLAs, five joined BJP at Delhi.

Sources informed that N Biren, S Tikendra and the five ex-MLAs who have joined BJP are still at Delhi to hold meetings with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National general secretary (North East in-charge) BL Santosh.

However, Amit Shah who was admitted to AIIMS Delhi after he was tested positive for COVID-19 has not been discharged.

Th Biswajit too was scheduled to take part in the proposed meetings with Amit Shah and BL Santosh.

However, he chose to come back to Imphal as their meeting with Amit Shah has not been fixed.

It is said that Biswajit would fly again to Delhi as and when their meeting with Amit Shah is fixed.

Although BJP Central leaders have already agreed in-principle to drop some Ministers from the State's Council of Ministers to make room for some new faces, no concrete decision has been adopted yet, said sources.

Chief Minister N Biren has been staying back at Delhi to seek concurrence of BJP Central leaders to the proposed reshuffle of his Council of Ministers, the sources added.
