Earthquake resistant housing models introduced in Senapati

Introducing the first of its kind, the earthquake resistant housing model will come to reality in Senapati district with constructions all set to kick off.
The house model project is taken up under the funding by the State Government and under a special project sanctioned by the Centre especially for Senapati district to provide urgent relief to those victims affected by the recent earthquake on January 4 .
According to sources, the new housing model is created specifically to withstand natural disasters like earthquake.
These houses will come under three different options for the earthquake relief beneficiaries to re-construct their houses.

According to sources, houses which are fully damaged and partially damaged during the earthquake will be provided such model house for reconstruction purposes.
These relief funds are created through State funds coupled with IAY schemes and Swachh Bharat programmes.
Here, housing structure will be made in such a way that it can withstand natural disasters like earthquake, water & fire.
The first model includes the flyash and concrete cement materials while the second model includes materials from traditional Manipuri bamboo walling which is reinforced with GI wires to withstand earthquake.
The third model includes the common feature of bricks and cement structure.
It may be noted that Senapati district administration has been physically inspecting and working at the earthquake affected sites to implement the rehabilitation projects since the earthquake hit in January.
Different models of the house to be constructed have been recommended by the district and necessary arrangement has been completed to begin the implementation, informed sources.
Spot verification and meeting of victims were held on different occasions by officials.
After the devastating earthquake that hit Manipur on January 4 and affected more than 1500 families killing 9 persons including two from Senapati district and injuring dozens, the rehabilitation process of providing relief through financial assistance and housing facilities began today.
IFCD Minister Ngamthang Haokip accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Jacintha Lazarus and SDOs distributed relief assistance to victims at Motbung Nepali which are categorized into two groups (1) fully damaged and (II) partially damaged.
Similar relief were also distributed at Kangpokpi and Saikul by MLA Nemcha Kipgen and MLA Yamthong.
Further, to provide assistance to the earthquake victims, the Centre has also reportedly approved special projects for Senapati district to fund the relief works.
