Imphal, December 18 2016: Acting on police reports that there could be serious breach of peace, disturbance to public tranquillity and danger to human lives, the District Magistrate of Imphal West has imposed curfew in Imphal West from 6.30 pm of December 18 till 4 am of December 19.Imphal East DM Ningthoujam Geoffrey has also issued another order whereby curfew has been imposed in entire Imphal East district with effect from 4 pm today until further order under Sub- Section (2) of Section 144, CrPC.

The curfew will however not apply to Govern- ment agencies involved in maintaining law and order, accredited media persons and essential services.

Notably, curfew was already imposed along Lamlong-Yaingangpokpi section of Imphal-Ukhrul road since 12.30 pm by another order issued by the District Magistrate.

Movement of any person outside their respective residences is prohibited during the curfew period, said the orders issued today evening.

In case of emergencies and for persons who want to take out procession for marriage, funeral etc, due written permission may be obtained from the DM or the SP concerned, added the order.
