MUDRA promotion campaign held

A campaign for promotion of Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana was held today at DM College Multipurpose Hall with Minister of State for External Affairs MJ Akbar as chief guest under the aegis of the State Level Bankers' Committee, Manipur.
Speaking at the gathering, MJ Akbar stated that women in the country are more knowledgeable than men about financial management .
Economic empowerment of women implies better livelihood of their children and the whole family.
Women should act as the engine of economic revolution in the country, MJ Akbar stated .
A number of initiatives aimed at economic empowerment of women which were unknown or overlooked during the past 70 years have been taken up by Prime Minister Narendra Modi .
It is Modi's vision to make women frontrunners of economic revolution in the country.
The concept that banks are there for the only rich and wealthy people no longer holds true.
Banks are now giving loans to working class and poorer sections of the society .

Around 70 per cent to 80 per cent of the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana are women, and the scheme was basically conceptualised for economic empowerment of women.
This would benefit a lot to working women starting from vegetable vendors, MJ Akbar asserted .
Department of Financial Services, Government of India, Deputy Director General Anjana Dube claimed that the Government of India has introduced six different schemes for the welfare of working class and poor sections of the society .
Through Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana, entrepreneurs can expand their enterprises and they can cope their financial difficulties with loans given by banks, Anjana said .
SBI Local Head Officer, Guwahati General Manager Network-II Digmanu Gupta observed that it was the first promotion campaign of Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana in Manipur .
Under this scheme, people of the State can avail loans from 25 banks.
The scheme was launched in the country in 2015 and three categories of loans are given under the same scheme.
The maximum amount given under the first category is Rs 50,000 while the second category ranges from Rs 50,000 to Rs five lakh.
The third category exceeds Rs five lakh .
Manipur is quite advanced in the field of agriculture, handloom, handicraft and other crafts and MUDRA can definitely bring economic welfare to many people of the State, Digmanu Gupta said .
Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar who is also in charge of Finance Department stated that 12,646 people have been given loans under Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana in the State .
He then appealed to all the people not to see bank loans as grants.
He urged all the people to cultivate a healthy habit of paying back loans in time .
Principal Secretary (Textiles, Commerce and Industry) P Vaiphei said that extensive implementation of Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana can definitely bring about economic growth in the country .
Highlighting the importance of banks in making the scheme successful, Vaiphei expressed keen desire to expedite the process of clearing loan applications .
