Ukhrul, July 17 2022: A centenarian from Ukhrul has set one of the finest humanitarian examples by donating food items to orphans of the district from his savings on his 100th birthday.

Seikhap Luikham donated food grain such as rice, dal, eggs, sugar, tea leaves, salt and stationery items among others for the orphans at the Alungtang Destitute Home in Ukhrul and celebrated his long, fruitful life with the children.

The 100 years old Seikhap Luikham is also presently working as a Home Evangelist of Phungyo Baptist Church inspite of his advanced years.

The PBC Church Tangrei, Ukhrul, in recognition of his service to the Church, felicitated the centenarian during Sunday morning worship service.

Rev Dr Mathotmi Vasha, executive secretary of Tangkhul Baptist Churches Association (TBCA) prayed for the good health and wellbeing of Seikhap Luikham during the morning worship service.

By the sidelines of the felicitation programme, Seikhap said that he has been utilising his savings to extend some sort of assistance to the needy and orphans who are living in dire situations.

He went on to mention that humans can give meaning to his/her life and to the lives of others through goodwill gestures and more problems could be solved through collective efforts.

Seikhap born in July 1922 converted to Christianity at the tender age of 18 and he had been spreading Christianity in the region at his own capacity.

He got married in 1947 and is blessed with four sons and three daughters, His family now has 53 members including his grandchildren.

Seikhap also mentioned that he is very careful when it comes to food and regularly visits the orphanage and hangs out with the children.
