Manipur tops enrolment in private schools; Govt Schools infrastructures 'a flop show' - ASER report

Manipur stands top in the enrolment of students in private school when compare to neighbouring states as well as when compare to all India average.
Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) , 2018 indicate that, 70.7% of the total children between age group 3 to 16 were enrolled in private school, while the remaining continues at Government schools and Madrassa.
The figure showed how the Government is taking care of the government schools besides its promises for improvement of the government schools.
As per the ASER report 14% of the students between the mention age were enrolled in private school in Tripura, in Assam it is only 25.8% .
The average enrolment of students in private school for the country is just 32% which means Manipur is much more than the national average.

The ASER report also showed that the condition of the elementary government schools do not reach the mark provided under the Right to Elementary Education .
School facility remains in a worrisome condition.
However, in South India state, it reaches almost 100% performing well above national average.
State needs serious attention on Water provision useable, toilet and Library.
Mid day meal is almost half national average.
School facility is immensely correlated with children attendance.
State need to give special attention on building infrastructure as well maintenance.
The ASER report also stated that attendance of students as well as the teachers was very poor in all the government elementary schools.
Enrollment in lower primary school declined from 2010 to 2012 but marginally increases afterward.
For upper primary school, there exist a jumping pattern each year but huge improvement from 2016 onwards.
However, Children attendance as well as Teacher attendance remains extremely poor as compared to National average which is worrisome for present education system in the State.
For children age group 14-16, children was given to calculate time, Apply unitary method, Financial making decision and Calculate discount which are relevant to day today living activities.
Children of Manipur are poor in financial making decision comparing to neighbouring state ASSAM as well as National AVERAGE.
