Imphal, November 15 2010:
At least two passengers were killed while 20 other sustained injuries in two separate road accidents that took place in different parts of the State today.
According to police report, the first incident took place along National Highway 39 at Maharabi under Sekmai Police Station at around 8.10 am today when a bus (MN-02/6848) carrying passengers from Imphal turned turtled.
The second driver identified as Khemjar Adhikari (19) s/o Giriraj of Kanglatongbi Paspati village was killed while 20 passengers sustained injuries in the in accident.
In the second incident, a woman who was pillion riding a motorcycle was killed when a passenger bus rammed into the motorcycle along Sega Road, Imphal at around 2 pm today.
The victim identified as Samurailatpam Ongbi Premila Devi (34) of Ngaikhong Bazar under Bishnupur district was returning home along with her husband Boby and 7year old son Banerjee in a motorcycle when the passenger bus (MN-05/1294) rammed into them.
Premila died at the spot.
The couple was after medical examination of their son when the unfortunate incident occurred.
The driver of the bus involved in the incident reportedly drove into Kwakeithel Police Outpost and surrendered to the police.
The body has been kept at the mortuary of RIMS Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Imphal Police station has registered a case in connection with the incident.
