Seven UG cadres arrested, weapons recovered

Imphal, May 15 2025: Security forces conducted search operations in different areas based on inputs from intelligence and arrested seven cadres of different proscribed outfits and recovered weapons.

According to a release issued by Manipur police control room, police arrested a cadre of armed outfit KCP (Taibanganba) identified as Kakchingtabam Rishikesh alias Nanao Sharma (41) of Kakching Khunou Thingnam Tarung Leikai from Waikhong Ningthoumanai area on May 13.He was involved in extortion and a mobile handset was seized from him.

A cadre of the Koireng-led UNLF identified as Asem Nanao alias Mahesh (31) of Irengband Sabal Leikai, involved in extortion activities, was also arrested from Lamdong area under Kakching police station.

A self-styled sergeant major of CKLA/UPLF identified as David Ngamjang (25) of M Tatjang village, but presently residing at Zouveng under Churachandpur district was arrested from Saikot under Churachandpur police station.

One 9mm pistol with three rounds were seized from him.

On Wednesday, an active member of the Pambei-led UNLF identified as Waikhom Rajesh Singh of Mongjam Mamang was arrested from Minuthong.

He was involved in extortion from cargo agencies.

A mobile handset and an aadhar card were seized from him.

A member of Koireng-led UNLF identified as Moirangthem Chinglen Singh (44) of Kangmong Meisnam Maning Leikai has also been arrested from Kangmong Meisnam Maning Leikai while two cadres of the proscribed RPF/PLA identified as Rk Mubisana Meitei alias Loken (47) of Wangjing Hodamba Maning and Moirangthem Naresh Singh alias Thoungamba (28) of Churachandpur Tuibong but presently residing at Wangjing Hodamba Maning were arrested from Leirongthel Pitra under Nongpok Sekmai police station.

Both of them were involved in extortion in Thoubal areas.

One each 9mm pistol with magazine and .32 pistol, five rounds of 9mm and two rounds of .32 pistol and a mobile phone were seized from them.

Meanwhile, security forces conducted search operation in Aigejang and Leimaram Uyok area under Nambol police station and recovered one each .303 rifle, .303 sniper, No 36 hand grenade, 40 mm lathode grenade, No 80 WP grenade, tear smoke grenade and tear smoke shell soft nose, two SBBL guns, 75 detonators, anti-riot rubber bullet, 3-way tear smoke grenade and three stun shells normal.
