A jawan of 69 Bn CRPF has been accused of molesting and attempting to rape a woman sweeper.
Meanwhile, a Court has issued a non-bailable warrant against the accused CRPF jawan, who has been absconding.
Sources said that Rakesh Kumar Yadav, a jawan of 69 Bn CRPF posted at SBI, MG Avenue building attempted to rape a woman sweeper of the SBI building yesterday around 7.30 am.
The CRPF man molested the woman and attempted to rape her while she was mopping the first floor of the Bank building.
Providentially, the woman escaped from the clutch of the accused jawan.
Following a complaint filed by the victim, with the assistance of Human Rights Law Network activists, at City Police Station, a team of City police arrested the accused jawan from the bank.
While interrogation was going on of the accused jawan, a team of CRPF personnel led by an officer whisked away the jawan without informing any of the police personnel present at the PS.
After constant insistence, the commandant concerned granted a permission for the arrest of the particular jawan yesterday.
When a team of City Police went to the bank to arrest the personnel yesterday around 6pm, the camp commander of the CRPF assured them to hand over Rakesh Yadav in an hour at the PS.
However, he was not handed over till date.
Meanwhile, the CO of 69 Bn CRPF stationed at Mantripukhri said that handing over of a personnel to the police without the sanction of a competent authority from Central Govt is not possible as per CRPF Act.
According to the Act, any interrogation should be done at the concerned battalion headquarters.
