Imphal, September 14 2024:
Saying that the unrest plaguing the State has also paralysed the education sector of Manipur, the All Manipur Recognised Private Schools' Welfare Association (AMRPSWA) has appealed to all sections of the society to facilitate a disturbance free education zone.
AMRPSWA, in a statement, said that all schools and colleges have been closed again in Manipur since the last few days in view of the emerging law and order situation.
Frequent closure of educational institutions jeopardises the future of students as it disrupts academic learning, the Association continued.
Maintaining that all schools are required to observe a minimum of 220 working days in an academic year as per Right to Education, AMRPSWA said that the students in Manipur, however, are unlikely to attend classes for even 120 days due to frequent closure of schools.
It is the students, the future pillar of the society, who are at loss every time schools are closed on working days, the Association added.
Saying that the students in Manipur will be at a great disadvantage when appearing for competitive examinations to pursue higher studies or get jobs if they are not familiar with the contemporary education system of the country, the Association added that they have written to the Education Minister and Commissioner and Director of Education (S) over the issue.
AMRPSWA said they expect a positive response from the Education Minister and Commissioner and Director of Education (S).
The Association also said that all sections of people in Manipur need to understand the harm paralysing the education sector will do on the students and the future of the State.
Cautioning that the future of the State will become uncertain if no corrective measure is taken up to resolve the issue besetting the education sector of Manipur, AMRPSWA appealed to one and all to reopen schools and prevent disrupting the study of students.
