Three CRPF men positive at Jiri State's tally reaches 1659 with 50 new cases

The State's COVID-19 tally has reached 1659 with 50 new cases today.
Jiribam continued to remain red as three CRPF personnel have been confirmed for COVID-19 today sending shockwaves across the district.
The CRPF personnel were involved in screening of the returnees at Jiribam Railway Station during the evacuation mission recently.
Suspecting cluster transmission, mass testing of the personnel of 87 CRPF Battalion stationed at Jiribam's Uchathol would be conducted, said sources in the Health Department.
While three of the personnel have been confirmed positive for the virus, the status of one personnel is yet to be confirmed, said sources.
It may be noted that earlier about 36 police and VDF personnel of Jiribam Police Station were confirmed for COVID-19 prompting the health authorities to conduct mass RAT (Rapid Antigen Test) in the district to contain the virus spread.
Moreover, just days ago, some family members of a security personnel at Jiribam had tested positive for the virus creating tension among the people.
Amid the rising number of cases in the district, the proposed COVID-19 Care Centre at Harinagar is yet to be opened.
Efforts are on to open the centre soon, said sources.
It may be noted that an expert team of doctors had recommended the authorities concerned to open the centre today.
On the other hand, a report from the COVID-19 Common Control Room said 17 new cases have been detected at JNIMS.
The 17 include seven males and 10 females.
They hail from Churachandpur (3), Imphal East (5) and Senapati (9).On the other hand, 74 persons were discharged from CCCs opened at Meitram (10), Tamenglong (28), Thoubal (3), Senapati (6), Ukhrul (5) and JNIMS (22).The State's recovery rate has improved to 59.65 pc, said the report.
In addition, sources at RIMS informed late in the evening that 30 cases have been detected today while another 30 COVID patients at Meitram CCC have tested negative for the virus.
The sources further informed that 12 patients including police personnel from Jiribam have been discharged after recovery yesterday and they are stationed at Pangei Police Training Centre.
Family members of the Singjamei man, who tested positive after recovery, have tested negative, added the sources.
