Daughter of newspaper hawker tops in Science stream

Malemnganbi Laishram, the daughter of a newspaper hawker has topped the State Class XII Science examination conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur.
Hailing from Khurai Sajor Leikai in Imphal East, Malemnganbi is the daughter of L Romen, who earns his livelihood by selling newspapers and L Jugarani Devi, who runs a small fast food stall at Sangakpham.
She scored 493 out of 500 marks with letter marks in English, Manipuri, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics.
L Romen, the proud father, said he is extremely happy with the results and is proud of his daughter.
Romen said he will be very happy and in the best mood when he delivers newspapers that have the story about his daughter tomorrow.
L Jugarani said she was at the fast food stall when she learned about the results.
"When I first heard the news, I was overwhelmed with joy and couldn't express my happiness.
She has been very sincere and hard-working.
We are very proud of her," Jugarani said.
The parents said they have been blessed and are grateful to people who have helped them and their daughter achieve this feat.
Malemnganbi said she wants to become a doctor and would work sincerely to become one.
She gave credit for her success to her parents, family, teachers and friends who encouraged and supported her.
She said sincerity and perseverance are key to success.
