Imphal, March 13 2016: Tongjeimarin District Demand Committee has threatened to launch democratic forms of agitation and impose bandh on Tongjeimarin road and NH-37(A) if the Government fails to make a positive announcement on the creation of a full-fledged Tongjeimarin district by March 25 .

In a statement, the committee said that the State Government has failed to understand the aspiration of the people.

Although, creation of Tongjeimarin district must be a priority, the Government did not discuss the matter in the last budget session of the State Legislative Assembly, the committee said.

It further said that the Government is always negligent in deliberating the issues related to poor and downtrodden people.

On the otherhand, the committee also said that the SDO offices of Khoupum and Longmai are defunct as no official is present in these offices.

Maintaining that the Government must seriously look into the system of running offices in Imphal by the officers posted in the hill areas, the committee demanded that the SDO offices of Khoupum and Longmai be made functional immediately.
