Imphal, November 12 2021:
Chief Minister N Biren Singh has announced that Manipur would be connected with gas pipelines (Silchar-Imphal and Kohima-Imphal) soon to ensure disturbance-free gas supply to the State.
He was speaking at a distribution function of e-SHRAM cards held at Hotel Imphal today.
Speaking as chief guest of the function, N Biren said that a LPG refilling/bottling plant would also be inaugurated soon in the State.
He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his love towards the people of the State.
The Chief Minister said it was very unfortunate to hear that out of the target registration of 8 lakh unorganised workers in the State, only around 58,000 individuals have been registered under e-SHRAM.
Mentioning that e-SHRAM scheme covers almost all unorganised workers viz construction workers, migrant workers, domestic workers, street vendors, truck drivers, fishermen, agricultural workers, ASHA workers etc, Biren said that all the unorganised workers registered under the scheme will be given accidental insurance coverage under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY).
The workers will be paid Rs two lakh for accidental death and permanent disability and Rs one lakh for partial disability, he added.
The Chief Minister directed the Chief Secretary to instruct the concerned departments to organise e-SHRAM registration camps separately such as Medical Department for ASHA workers etc, Forest Department for SHGs under TRIFED, Social Welfare Department for Anganwadi workers etc at different places.
He assured Union Minister Rameshwar Teli that the target of 8 lakh will be achieved by December, 2021 in the State.
Highlighting that more than 1.4 lakh women were given LPG gas connection under Ujjwala scheme in the State, the Chief Minister said that Ujjwala 2.0 was launched in the State yesterday.
Under the Ujjwala 2.0, the Government has set a target of distributing one lakh gas connections in the State, he added.
Around 15,304 gas connections will be provided to women of Chandel district, 31,999 gas connections for Senapati district, 23,454 connections for Kangpokpi, 5,028 connections for Pherzawl, 7,816 connections for Tamenglong, 6,995 connections for Ukhrul, 10,530 connections for Thoubal, 1,698 connections for Kakching and 148 connections for Jiribam district.
The gas connections would be distributed during the ongoing GTV and other functions.
For those districts which have achieved 90 per cent gas connections under Ujjwala scheme, the Government would request the Ministry to provide gas connection to the remaining 10 per cent under the same scheme.
Union Minister of State for Labour & Employment Rameswar Teli expressed that Manipur would touch new heights of achievements with registration and better implementation of the e-SHRAM portal.
The Government has developed e-SHRAM portal for creating a National Database of Unorganized Workers (NDUW) for the first time under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
E-SHRAM registration cards were distributed to 30 unorganized workers while Pension Payment Order (PPO) was distributed under "Prayaas" initiative of EPFO.
Rameswar Teli also distributed cheques and certificates to the ESI beneficiaries present at the function.
The function was organised by the Department of Skill, Labour & Employment & Entrepreneurship.
Teli elaborated that under Ujjwala Part I, the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas has already given gas connection to 1 crore women and the ongoing Ujjwala Part II targets to provide LPG connections to another one crore women.
Talking on Ethanol project, Minister Teli said "We are working on this project in all districts of the country but it cannot be implemented in Manipur due to some reason.
We are also planning to start gas pipeline in Imphal and capitals of other States of the country soon.
We are considering two roadways; Silchar-Jiribam and Dimapur-Nagaland routes, for linking the gas pipeline, he also stated.
Teli also encouraged labourers and construction workers of Manipur to register themselves with the e-SHRAM portal so that they can avail of the facility and benefits of the e-SHRAM cards.
The only documents needed for registration are bank account, telephone number and AADHAR card.
Workers can register at Panchayat offices, CJS centres etc at free of cost, he also added.
Minister for IPR and Works, Th Biswajit Singh said that the Labour and Employment Department has been trying its best to protect the rights of the workers of the country.
