ST is the answer for Meiteis: MMTU

The Meetei (Meitei) Tribe Union (MMTU) has once again said that enlistment of Meeteis in the Scheduled Tribe (ST) list of the Indian Constitution is the only option available to secure the future of the ethnic group.
MMTU, in a statement, said that a delegation of the Union led by its secretary administration Mutum Churamani and joint secretary Yumnam Rajeshwor is taking part in the 2-day National conference (September 12 and 13) on World's Indigenous People-2024 being organised by Adivasi Samanvay Manch, Bharat at Solan in Himachal Pradesh.
MMTU continued that their delegation will present the non-inclusion of Meeteis in the ST list, the contemporary political and socio-economy condition of Meeteis, the 'wrongful' inclusion of Kuki-Zo foreigners in the ST list and voter list and the political move of the Kukis to disintegrate Manipur during the two day conference.
Stating that their delegation will resume their Nationwide campaign seeking ST status for Meeteis after the conference at Solan and seek an audience with Union Ministers, Members of Parliament, bureaucrats, religious leaders and social activists, MMTU added that they have got the appointment to meet many of these leaders.
