Many condemn ADC Member's assassination

Chief Minister Okram Ibobi visited the bereaved family of Ngalangzar this evening and conveyed solidarity.
The assassination was carried out by cowards and it ought to be condemned by all right thinking man, Ibobi stated.
He asserted that all the criminals involved in the murder would never be let off.
Ibobi was accompanied by Home Minister Gaikhangam and Speaker Th Lokeshore.
Earlier, Home Minister Gaikhangam visited the family former Vice Chairmen ADC Ukhrul at Khuman Lampak State Youth Centre and while strongly condemning the murder remarked the attack as beastly.
He also pledged to give befitting punishment to those who committed the heinous crime.
Speaking to media persons after meeting the family members at Khuman Lampak State Youth Centre, Gaikhangam stated that the assassination ought to be condemned by every section of society.
The act is anti people, anti social and anti-democratic act.
Gaikhangam asked, "What did they achieve by killing the ADC Member and shedding blood of our own people?" .
He also said if they (assassins) carry on taking life of innocent people, then a time will come when the innocent people will raise their voice and revolt against them.
The State Government would not spare the culprits.
They would be awarded befitting punishment according to the law of the land, he stated.
When enquired by the groups of reporters on who might be behind the attack, Gaikhangam stated that it was too early to say anything but looking after the various unwanted incidents which were carried out against the ADC Members and ADC election, it might have been be carried out by NSCN-IM.
He added that had Nga-langzar gone along with security escorts, he could have spurned the fatal attack.
A Congress Legislature Party meeting held this evening with Chief Minister O Ibobi in the chair strongly condemned the brutal assassination of M Ngalangzar.
The meeting deliberated on the daring attack and possible counter measures which should be taken up immediately.
It is reported that the CLP's recent decision to protect agricultural land would be discussed in the next CLP meeting to give the new initiative a concrete shape.
The District Council Coordination Committee has condemned in the strongest term the brutal assassination of its convenor and Ukhrul ADC Member M Ngalangzar today.
The District Council Coordination Committee secretary Henjathang appealed to all concerned to avoid such terrible attacks in future.
If there is any animosity or grudges, dialogue should be given first priority.
Such violent and fatal attack is a dark blot on democracy.
Henjathang said the committee shared the pain and grief being endured by the bereaved families of Ngalangzar.
