CCpur, February 12 2016 :
The total shut down announced by several organisations to protest the decision to bury the nine 'martyrs' tomorrow has crippled normal life as people chose to stay indoor and vehicles opted to stay off roads.
Bandh supporters who had set up road blocks at several locations and burnt tyres had a stand-off with security personnel at some places but no violence was reported.
The total shutdown of Churachandpur town jointly imposed by All Tribal Movement of Lamka, Tribal Student Movement, Singtangmite WhatsApp Group and Joint Admin Group in protest against the alleged diktat by the president of Kuki National Organization regarding the burial of nine tribal 'martyrs' without giving any logical reason will be extended till the midnight of February 13 .
The bandh was effective from the midnight of February 11 .
The organisations thanked the public for extending support to the bandh.
The total shutdown would be intensified tomorrow, the organisations said.
