Lamka, December 11 2012:
The KSDC has claimed that major stakeholders in the neighboring State of Mizoram, including the Chief Minister and former MNF activists are in favour of carving out a Kuki State in the present day Manipur.
KSDC's information and publicity secretary George Guite claimed that Mizoram Chief Minister Lalthanhawla has given them his blessings in their struggle to carve-out a separate Kuki State in Manipur.
'He had told us that he was not just the Chief Minister of Mizoram but of all the Chin/Kuki/Mizo/Zomi brethren in India and the adjoining Myanmar,' he told The Sangai Express.
The KSDC, he said, had met former MNF activists and leaders of the influential Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) and Central Young Mizo Association (CYMA) during their recent tour to the neighboring State.
"We were primarily on an ice-breaking mission to understand the opinion of our Mizo brothers about carving out a Kuki State in present day Manipur and whether they still remember the contribution of Kukis during the MNF movement," he said.
"All those we met during the tour are with us in our demand for a separate State.
Some are even saddened that residents of the present day Mizoram remains content and do not bother about their kins and neighbors,' he said.
