Bid to storm PS foiled

Imphal, September 11 2024: A large number of people tried to storm Singjamei police station at Kakwa today over the arrest of some person during yesterday's protest but their attempt was foiled by police.

The State police personnel fired tear gas shells and mock bombs to disperse the protesters who demanded immediate release of those who were arrested yesterday.

The protest started at around 4.30 pm and the protesters exchanged words with the police.

There was a heated argument between the two sides, following which the police started firing tear gas shells and mock bombs to disperse the protesters.

The protesters also pelted stones and fired slingshots to the police.

Additional security measures have been taken up at Kakwa areas as tension was still high at the place when this report was filed.
