Panba tops PMT

It turned out to be third time lucky for Longjam Panba of Keishamthong Longjam Leirak, who topped the Pre-medical Test (PMT) conducted by the Department of Health Services on June 10 .
The overall topper in the MBBS/BDS Entrance Examination 2012 is the son of Manichandra and Nutan.
He secured 88 marks in Physics, scored the same in Chemistry besides culling 192 in Biology for a grand total of 368 .
Panba, who reportedly remained focused on the PMT examination since completing class XII in 2008, told The Sangai Express that inspite of failing on two earlier occasions he never gave up the hope of becoming a doctor.
Conveying thanks to tutors of MECI tutorial centre for guiding him in successfully scaling the PMT hurdle in his third attempt, Panba also expressed gratitude to all who assisted him in attaining his cherished goal.

Expressing deep concern on the woeful power supply situation in the State which he said is impeding aspiration of many students, he also opined that the State is capable of producing many outstanding students for which regular power supply should be ensured.
Panba, was followed in the second position by Athokpam Kabita, daughter of Ajaykumar and Manbi Devi of Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal.
Kabita, who secured a total score of 358 marks, said she passed the PMT on her second attempt.
