Imphal, November 10 2019:
Transporter unions operating along Imphal-Moreh route have warned that they may cease their services indefinitely if the Central and State Governments completely disregard the sentiments of the Manipuri people and take any decision concerning the Naga peace talks, which will affect the interest and integrity of the State.
Speaking on the sidelines of a one day cease work and alert sit-in-protest staged by various transporter unions operating along Imphal-Moreh route at Moirangkhom Moreh Parking today, under the aegis of COCOMI, advisor of Imphal to Moreh Eco Van Welfare Association L Bhogendro demanded that the terms and conditions of the Naga peace talks must not harm the interests of the State in any manner.
Further stating that the secretive nature of the details/contents of the Framework Agreement and peace talks till date, has resulted in immense apprehension in the minds of the Manipuris, Bhogendro demanded the immediate disclosure of Framework Agreement and the supposed points of agreement included in the peace talk which was held between GoI and NSCN (IM) on October 31 .
Reminding that Manipur is home to many ethnic communities, Bhogendro warned against bringing a solution to the Naga political issue based on ethnic line.
He further asked the Central Government not to invite another June 18 incident.
Lamenting that the State Govt and the legislators lack the will power to defend the State, he asked the State Government to convene a special Assembly session at the earliest to enable the 60 MLAs to reaffirm their stand to protect the State.
All Wangoo Senior Citizen Welfare Association organised an alert sit in protest at Wangoo Laipham Chuthek Leikai.
Similar sit ins were also organised by the Manipur Chemists and Druggists Association at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai community hall and by locals of Nambol Phoijing at Nambol Phoijing Kaboklei Keithel, Moirang Sendra and Ithing.
