Manipur High Court 1st Chief Justice sworn in

At last Manipur High Court has got its full fledged Chief Justice today after one year and three months of the court was set up.
Manipur Governnor VK Duggal administered the oath to Lakshmi Kanta Mohapatra at Manipur Raj Bhavan today.
Mahapatra has been the Acting Chief Justice of Manipur High Court since October 21, 2013 while the Court was inaugurated on March 25, 2013 .
With the swearing-in of Lakshmi Kanta Mahapatra as the Chief Justice of Manipur, the Court has two judges in Kotishwor and Mahopatra.
Actually, Manipur High Court should have 5 full-fledged judges with the recent all-India 25% judge number increment in every high court.
Prior to this, there has been an order to have four judges in Manipur High Court.

Interacting with some media persons after he was sworn-in as the Chief Justice of Manipur High Court, Mr Mahapatra said that at the earliest the remaining vacant judges' posts should be filled up.
The newly sworn-in Chief Justice of Manipur High Court also said that the issue of the shortage of manpower in the Manipur High Court will be addressed after the vacant posts of the judges are filled up.
He assured that even if there has been shortage of manpower in the high court he will try his best that the delivery of justice to the people is not affected.
Meanwhile, Manipur chief minister O Ibobi Singh, deputy chief minister Gaikhangam, minister for education Okendro, Works minister Kh Ratan, Hill Area Committee (HAC) chairman Chaltolien Amo, IPR minister Meghachandra, PHED minister I Hemochandra, chief secretary PC Lawmkunga, Director General of Police Saheed Ahmed and others attended the swearing-in ceremony of the Chief Justice of Manipur.
