Imphal, July 09 2014:
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi today unveiled a bust of Dr Lamabam Kamal, one of the stalwarts of Manipuri literature at his birth place Langthabal Kunja Mayai Leikai.
Speaking at the occasion, Ibobi remarked that good quality literature is timeless.
Literature, culture and traditions are the mirrors of a society.
After studying a country's literature, one can tell the civilizational status of the country because the country's traditions and its socio-political events are reflected in their literature.
Acknowledging the immense contribution of Dr Kamal to Manipuri literature, Ibobi attributed inclusion of Manipuri language in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution to relentless efforts of Manipuri scholars and writers.
