Imphal, April 09 2019:
Notwithstanding the strong voices of opposition raised by different quarters, BJP MLA and MPCB Chairman L Radhakishore has said that BJP's promise to enact CAB 2016 is quite logical.
Speaking to media persons today, Radhakishore said that BJP Central leaders decision on CAB is a right step.
The Bill is a very significant one which seeks to provide Indian citizenship to migrants from neighbouring countries, he said.
The BJP MLA said that he fully supports the decision to enact CAB.
People would get ample opportunity to modify CAB or insert certain clauses to protect those States and communities which may be affected when it is debated in the Parliament, he said.
It is the duty of the MPs elected from the North East including Manipur to ensure that the interests of indigenous people are protected.

He said that the BJP candidates, if elected, would work together with other MPs to allay the fears emanating from CAB.
He then appealed to all the voters to support the BJP candidates.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena State unit president M Tombi hoped that a special clause would be inserted in CAB even if the Bill is passed in Parliament so as to exempt Manipur from its purview.
Speaking to media persons, M Tombi who is also the convenor of Manipur Democratic Alliance (MDA) said that CAB has been in force since 1955. BJP has been only seeking to cut down the minimum residential period within the country from 11 years to six years for immigrants from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan to be eligible for Indian citizenship, Tombi said.
CAB seeks to provide Indian citizenship to Hindu minorities who have been facing persecution in the three countries.
The Act has been there since the Congress Government, he continued.
Tombi claimed that Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had posted in his Facebook and Twitter accounts that a special clause would be inserted in CAB so as to keep Manipur out of its ambit.
He also appealed to all the people to support the two BJP candidates.
