Sit-in-protests continue at different localties

People paid rich homage to late Sapam Robinhood on the completion of one month of his death today.
From the early morning today, Meira Paibis from all over the State and Ananda Higher Secondary School students gathered at Ananda Higher Secondary gate to pay floral tributes to the late students.
A sit-in-protest was also held in the later part of the day to condole the death of Robinhood.
Exactly a month ago, on July 8 Sapam Robinhood was killed in police action during a protest demanding ILP in the State.
A student of Ananda Higher Secondary School said the suspension of six policemen of Imphal East in connection with the death of Robinhood is the State's attempt to suppress the mounting agitation of the people.
The people's agitation could not be smothered until the State Government terminates all the police personnel who were posted on duty in the area of protest on July 8, he said.
The agitation is set to intensify until the State Government passes a legislation similar to ILP.
Meanwhile, Meitei Muslims staged a sit-protest at Top Khongnang Awang Leikai today joining the people's demand for ILP.
Similar protests was also seen at Nirvana Foundation, Khurai Tinsid road organised by Macs Partner NGO Forum (MPNF) .
Paona bazar shopkeepers downed their shutters and assembled at Leima Shopping Plaza to stage a sit-in-protest today.
A verbal duel ensued between the protesters and a team of police who tried to disrupt the protest.
The protest was also held at Usha hall, Palace Gate under the statue of the Thangal General.
Sixteen different clubs under Thongju part I and II staged a joint sit-in-protest from Kakwa Bazar to Manipur University main gate blocking one lane of the Imphal-Moreh highway.
Vehicular movements along the Highway was interrrupted as large number of people came out and sat for the protest on the road demanding implementation of ILP in the State.
At Khurai Thoudam Leikai, a sit-in-protest was staged at Sangeet Kala Sangam Hall.
Meanwhile, a standoff ensued when police tried to stop a large number of people who were staging sit-in-protest along the Uripok- Kangchup road.
Later protesters blocked the Uripok road at Sorbon Thingel area crippling all forms of transportation along the road.
