Deemed varsity status for RIMS mooted

Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare JP Nadda has assured that due efforts would be invested to upgrade RIMS to the status of either a deemed university or AIIMS.
JP Nadda today laid foundation stones for different blocks which would be constructed at the total cost of Rs 202 crore and he assured that all the construction works would be completed within two years.
He laid foundations stones for a new Casualty block, Community and Forensic Medicine block, Maternity Block, Under Graduate Hostel etc this morning.
A team led by the Union Minister also inspected Casualty ward, ICU, Operation Theatre, Special Ward, Radio Therapy Department etc.
The team which included MP Dr T Meinya, MP Thangso Baite, MLA Kh Joykishan, MLA Th Bishwajit and BJP Manipur Pradesh general secretary Ashnikumar also interacted with patients and hospital staff.

Later, a meeting was held at RIMS Jubilee Hall where Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Joint Secretary (NE Division) KC Samaria, RIMS Director Prof S Rita and Medical Superintendent Prof M Amuba were present among others.
During the gathering, RIMS Teachers and Medical Officers Association, College of Nursing Teachers' Association and Non-Teaching and Employees' Welfare Association submitted memoranda to the Union Health and Family Welfare Minister on further development of RIMS.
Speaking at the gathering, JP Nadda stated that he would personally supervise administration, utilization of fund and other activities of RIMS.
He assured that all the pending issues of RIMS would be resolved one after another.
Stating that RIMS would not face any paucity of fund, the Union Minister asserted that he would look into the existing gap between planning and implementation so as to upgrade RIMS to the status of either a deemed university or AIIMS.
He asserted that the Union Government is committed to bring speedy development in the entire North East region.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched many initiatives which are specifically aimed at rapid development of the region.
Highlighting the need for sincerity and taking development initiatives to the grassroots level, JP Nadda assured that he would come again to RIMS with a package of more projects.
