As the Academic Council of MU, Deans of students and the HoDs are the competent authority to take decision on or change reservation norms in admission, MU authorities had been directed by the Union HRD Ministry not to take any decision regarding admission to MU for the academic session 2016-17, said the statement.
The Registrar-in-charge of MU had on October 27 issued a notification to all the HoDs to declare the additional list of ST candidates for admission to different courses in the varsity, overlooking the CEI (Reservation in admission) Act 2006 and as amended in 2012 as well as the ruling of the High Court of Manipur on October 26 this year, said ATSUM.
All these points were highlighted during the meeting with the CM, said the student body and added that the decision to hold the meeting on Monday was taken after this.
