Imphal, May 05 2020:
20 more stranded Manipuri people, all residents of Thangmeiband AC, were brought to Imphal from Guwahati by bus today and they have been lodged in a quarantine centre opened at Mantripukhri.
The 20 people were brought back after obtaining permission from the State Government and their travel expenses were borne by Congress MLA Kh Joykisan.
Collection of samples from people lodged in the quarantine for COVID-19 test at RIMS and JNIMS has already started, informed a source.

Meanwhile, the Sagolband Constituency Progressive Committee (SCPC), under the aegis of MLA RK Imo is bringing back 42 stranded State natives of Sagolband AC from Guwahati.
Two buses have been sent after getting necessary permits from the State Home Department to ferry the stranded people today, said a statement of the committee (SCPC) .
The two buses were flagged off from the residence of the local MLA by Imphal Municipal Corporation Ward No 7 Corporator RK Jiten at around 8 am today.
The buses with the stranded people will reach Imphal on May 7, it said.
The local MLA, in the next phase, is planning to bring back people of the Constituency who are stranded in other cities including the North-Eastern States.
Necessary permits are being sought to bring back students from Kota, Rajashthan, the committee informed lauding the leadership of MLA RK Imo during the lockdown.
The 42 people will undergo all required and mandatory screening at Mao Gate and follow-up measures, said the committee.
On the other hand, the State Govt has designated a team under an Additional Chief Secretary to proceed to Jiribam and work out the modalities to enable State natives to return by train.
A number of people from Manipur are currently stranded outside the State.
