Cases stand at 25,691 with 155 fresh infections

A 62-year- old man from Thoubal district became the latest victim of COVID-19 as the State' s total coronavirus positive cases reached25,691 with 155 fresh infections in the last 24 hours.
The man from Thoubal died at JNIMS Hospital.
The death toll due to the disease has reached 297 while the official death toll is at 295 only as the COVID-19 Common Control Room is yet to report two deaths earlier reported by this paper.
The State has 2,951 active COVID-19 cases and 22,445 persons have recovered from the disease.
The recovery rate has slightly improved to 87.36 percent.
According to the daily report of the COVID-19 Common Control Room issued by Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, the 155 new cases include 5 personnel of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and 150 civilians.
The 150 civilians hail from Imphal West (46), Imphal East (42), Tamenglong (14), Bishnupur (11), Kakching (11), Ukhrul (7), Kangpokpi (6), Churachandpur (5), Thoubal (3), Jiribam (2), Chandel (2) and Senapati (1) .
All of them have no significant travel history and they are being shifted to COVID-19 Care Centres.
All precautionary and containment measures are in place, said the report.
In the last 24 hours, 273 persons have recovered from COVID-19.While 151 of them recovered while under home isolation, the remaining have been discharged from COVID-19 Care Centres opened at Ukhrul (1), Tamenglong (2), JNIMS (3), RD Wing (6), Bal Bhavan (6), LKK (8), UNACCO (9), RIMS (11) and CAPF (76).The cumulative number of COVID-19 positive cases is 25,691 including 22,545 civilians and 3,146 Central security personnel.
The total number of recovered cases is 22,445 including 19,532 civilians and 2,913 Central security personnel.
The number of active cases is 2,951 including 2,722 civilians and 229 Central security personnel.
The recovery rate stands at 87.36 per cent, said the report of the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
Meanwhile, sources at JNIMS said 237 samples were tested at the hospital today and 48 of them have been found positive for COVID-19 .
