Imphal, August 04 2015: A house was totally gutted by an accidental fire at around 9.40 am today at Khurai Chingangbam Leikai, Yeng-khom Leirak, Imphal East district under Porompat police station.

According to information culled from the spot, the devastated house belonged to one Nongthombam Nilo (70).Nilo's son Johnson runs a grocery shop at Yengkhom Leirak and many of the goods he sold were stocked inside the house.

As such, all those goods meant for sale have also been destroyed.

According to information received from Manipur Fire Service, the razing fire was brought under control with the help of four fire tenders.

However, goods worth several lakhs were destroyed.

Altogether 150 bags of paddy, 40 bags of rice, six LPG cylinders, 20 bags of dal, gold jewellery worth Rs 10 lakh, Rs three lakh in cash and many other household articles were gutted by the fire.
