Imphal, May 04 2020:
The IOC would be introducing a new policy of home delivery of diesel to selected consumers of the State who have been using diesel in bulk.
Door to door delivery (DDD) of diesel to consumers has been already introduced in other States of India through three oil marketing companies namely; Hindustan Petroleum, Bharat Petroleum and Indian Oil.
In the North East region, the DDD system has been launched at Jorhat.
The initiative of home delivery of diesel to selected consumers who use diesel in bulk was already started in the State but the same process was stalled by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sources informed that the DDD system is closely linked with the Government's StartUp scheme.
Department for Promotion of Industries and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industries has been working to promote entrepreneurs under the StartUp scheme.
In tandem with these efforts to promote entrepreneurs, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas took up the initiative of home delivery of diesel to entrepreneurs listed under StartUp scheme and who use diesel in bulk.
Implementation of the DDD system would require some retail outlets (oil pumps) although it is not necessary to enlist all retail outlets as supply points.
As such, there is a need to select some ROs for the DDD system, added the sources.
