With nine personnel testing positive...Local volunteers don role of cops

Imphal, August 03 2020: Following confirmation of nine personnel of Mayang Imphal police station including the OC as COVID-19 positive, volunteers of Mayang Imphal Social Welfare Club, Sayon Gym and Mayang Imphal Khuman Youth Association have taken up the job of policing Mayang Imphal area, to check spread of coronavirus.

As done by police earlier, the local volunteers were seen going on publicity campaign using PA system on the importance of adhering to COVID-19 guidelines and SOP.

The volunteers also prohibited movement of people barring those people on emergency or essential services.

Volunteers of these local clubs have been working on rotational basis and they didn't allow opening of any shops at Mayang Imphal Keithel except pharmacies and those shops dealing in essential items.

At the same time, they have also been spreading awareness about the necessity of wearing face masks and maintaining social distance.

They also sprayed Sodium Hypochlorite at different places including Mayang Imphal Keithel.
