Imphal, August 02 2024:
Petrol pumps in the valley districts of Manipur are on the verge of running out of stock as the cease work strike by the Consortium of Manipur Petroleum Products Transporters Fraternity (CMPPTF) entered the second day today.
Notably, CMPPTF had written to the Prime Minister, the Union Home Minister and the State Government to take up necessary action to stop the extortions along National Highway-37 (Imphal-Jiribam road) .
The Consortium had waited for a response from the Government till July 31 .
Transporters have stopped bringing in petrol, diesel and LPG from loading points outside Manipur since yesterday as their last meeting with the Government representatives ended inconclusively on July 31 .

Reportedly, the oil depot of IOCL at Malom has also stopped supplying petrol and diesel to retail outlets operating across the valley districts since yesterday owing to the cease work strike.
Furthermore, the bottling plant of IOCL at Sekmai also didn't dispatch even one truckload of refilled LPG cylinders to LPG distributors today.
The gas bottling plant at Sekmai has stopped operating though it was supposed to supply 30 truckloads of refilled LPG cylinders to the distributors today.
Yesterday, 30 truckloads of refilled LPG cylinders were supplied to the distributors.
It is reported that the petrol and diesel supplied to retail outlets by the oil depot at Moreh on July 31 may be exhausted by tomorrow, possibly after 11 am.
A reliable source said that the fuel stock (both petrol and diesel) at PCTC (retail outlet) at Khuyathong which has the largest storage tank may run dry by 10 am tomorrow.
Some LPG distributors who The Sangai Express interacted with also said that they don't have extra stock (refilled LPG cylinders) at their godowns now other than those supplied by the gas bottling plant at Sekmai recently.
They also said that they may not be able to continue their service if the issue is not resolved.
