Expressing serious concern over the rapid rise in the number of coronavirus cases among the people having no significant travel history, People's Task Force for COVID-19 has appealed locals, clubs and Meira Paibis to form units of the task force in their respective localities to strictly enforce WHO and ICMR guidelines on the pandemic.
The State had recorded more than 2750 cases and six deaths till August 1 .
And there is also increased infection among people who have no travel history.
The State is facing a very grim situation which may further deteriorate if people do not follow the safety guidelines.
To effectively face the pandemic and contain the spread of the disease, all localities should form units of the 'People's Task Force for COVID-19', it said.
The task force continued that such a unit will enforce the safety guidelines at the respective localities and give awareness on COVID-19 .
The unit will also guide people and help them in any issue related to COVID-19 .
The task force units should work in close coordination with the people and related authorities.
The Health Department and the district administration should also assist the task force units in enforcing the COVID-19 guidelines.
Regarding closure of locality based shops amid the lockdown, the task force maintained that such shops should be allowed to open under the watch of the local task force units.
The task force units may ensure people buy essential items from the shops maintaining physical distance and other safety measures as prescribed.
It also advised the people to sincerely take up measures and maintain personal hygiene to beat the virus.
