ATSUM office bearers sworn in

The oath taking cum handing/taking over ceremony of newly elected office bearers of the All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM), erstwhile known as the interim body of ATSUM, was held today at Senapati district headquarters.
Among others, the oath taking ceremony was attended by former ATSUM president John Pulamte, outgoing president Thomas Jaishya and leaders of different tribal student organisations.
The newly elected office bearers for the term 2013-15 are Emboi Serto (President), Marahang Ngiimei (General Secretary), Hemang Haokip (Finance Secretary), Kakam Haokip (Education Secretary) and Adani David Mao (Speaker) .
Speaking at the occasion, newly elected president Emboi Serto said that ATSUM was set up with a vision in 1972 for all the tribal communities of Manipur but the same vision has remained only a dream today.

"To translate the dream into reality is in our hands.
But it would not be an easy task for the path is laden with many deterrents", said Serto.
He also pledged to work in the interest of all tribal communities without thinking for personal gains.
For ATSUM to march ahead, advice and suggestions of leaders, federating units, tribal Hohos, Inpuis and tribal student leaders are crucial.
Emboi Serto further pledged not to compromise tribal unity and aspirations under any circumstances.
