Imphal, June 02 2011:
The Government of Manipur will be writing to the Centre expressing reservation against implementation of Lokpal Bill in a State where Lok Ayuka is already enforced.
With the Centre asking the opinion of the State Government on Lokpal Bill, a meeting of the SPF Cabinet held today discussed the matter and decided to communicate the response of the State Government expressing reservation against implementation of Lokpal Bill in a State where a similar Bill/Act like Lok Ayukta is already enforced as it (Lokpal) would be of no use.
According to spokesperson of the SPF Government Minister N Biren, the State Cabinet has given its recommendation to the State Government for communicating its response to the Centre highlighting the fact that Lokpal Bill, which supposedly aims to tighten grip on corruption, excludes the Prime Minister, Judges and discussion on issues related to corruption in the State Assemblies.
On the other agenda of the Cabinet, the spokesperson informed that after a detailed discussion, today's Cabinet meeting has given its nod to the demands of Federation of College Teachers' Association, Manipur (FECTAM) for implementation of UGC pay scale and that of Council of Teachers' Association (COTA) for implementation of Central 6th Pay recommendation.
The teacher bodies had launched agitations demanding their due.
The demands of FECTAM and COTA would be implemented with retrospective effect from November 2010 .
The amount of the arrear from November, 2010 to May, 2011 would be included in the GPF and paid along with the salary from June, 2011, Biren informed.
