Imphal, February 02 2020:
Demanding immediate implemen- tation of the 7th Pay, the All Manipur College Teachers' Association (AMCTA) has started mass mobilisation today.
As a part of the mass mobilisation campaign, AMCTA held meetings at Thoubal College and Lilong Haoreibi College, said a statement of the association.
It may be noted that college teachers' associations including the apex body FEGOCTA (Federation of Government College Teachers' Associations) have been demanding implementation of the 7th Pay since 2018 .
FEGOCTA yesterday said that they would be boycotting all academic activities except examinations from February 3 .
Meanwhile, AMCTA had also cautioned the Government that they would be holding mass rally on February 6 .
The latest mobilisation and protests are triggered by the failure of the Government to fulfil its repeated assurances to implement the 7th Pay.
AMCTA had submitted a reminder on January 13 and served the Government January-end deadline to implement the pay scale, it said.
The Government had, in principle, agreed to implement the pay scale two months back, added AMCTA reiterating that it would be holding mass rally if the Government fails to take actions by February 5 .
AMCTA had said that the prolonged failure of the Government to deliver its assurances has undermined the college teachers' interests.
