Imphal, February 02 2016:
All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) has cautioned that RIMS Director and Medical Superintendent must be held responsible for any eventuality arising out of the union's efforts to save the medical institute from corruption and nepotism.
In a statement, AMSU said that all those involved in the 'fake certificate scandal' which came to light during the recruitment process of different posts in RIMS must confess at the earliest.
The students' body urged the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to take appropriate action against RIMS Medical Superintendant for his alleged involvement in the scandal.
Regarding the clarifications made by the Medical Superintendant, AMSU questioned under which recruitment guideline of RIMS, the interview board selected an OBC candidate who was not included in the shortlisted list of candidates.
It further questioned which medical institute has ever selected a candidate on humanitarian ground or on the basis of experience.
Citing an example, AMSU questioned whether RIMS would appoint a candidate, who is not ANM or GNM qualified but possesses necessary experience, as a Nurse.
RIMS authority must spell out the meaning of 'certificate holder in the trade from a recognised institute', AMSU said.
The union further questioned why RIMS Director has been remaining silent on the issue although AMSU has exposed the alleged corruption and nepotism in the recruitment process.
