TNL visits Myanmar Naga areas: Mobility will not be restricted : Shidi (Member of Parliament)

The Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) visited Naga brethrens in Myanmar with a view to "strengthening people to people relationship" settled at India and Myanmar and fasten emotional integrity of the Naga people settled in the two countries.
A high level Tangkhul team headed by TNL president Artax A Shimray along with the representatives of TSL, TKS, and intellectuals visited Somrah, Myanmar recently.
They also attended the silver jubilee celebration of YGKS which was marked by vibrant display of live musical concert participated by all the surrounding villages of Somra.
Tangkhul folk songs and folk dances were also performed by the Myanmar Tangkhul at the celebration.
The team had an interaction with Myanmar MP Shidi, who hails from Somra Town.

He expressed gratitude and satisfaction to the team for initiating such a move to unite all the Nagas family.
He also stated that the mobility of people will not be restricted anymore as the country has already restored democracy.
The Naga brethren can have more privilege to interact and uphold the feeling of solidarity and oneness.
While Artax A Shimray assured the Naga brethren in Myanmar that they would work at different levels to understand the problems and hardship face by people in the border villages.
He suggested to work together to expedite border haat construction, organize health camp to ensured the basic health necessities and hold exhibition mela to boost relationship and cordiality .
The Myanmar Government had already approved to construct the border road from Somra town to Tusom village at the width of 36 feet within this year 2014.But at present, the road is deplorable and only 4X4 wheeler and Chinese made two wheeler bike Kenbo is are the most effective means of travel which take only hour to reach the border town Somrah.
The town is still in remote condition without modern basic amenities such as electricity supply, hospital and Government high School though one is under construction.
Tangkhul is one of the 16 recognised ethnic groups of Myanmar.
The Tangkhul Naga Literary and cultural Committee was the only organization allowed to exist since the time of the military junta.
The chairman TNLCC stated that the Naga were divided during the reign of Prime minister Unu.
He lamented that they could not meet with family since that time.
They committed to monitor the common cause and share problems of the Nagas more frequently and fight for the rights of Nagas.
Among the three border haats of Manipur namely Somra, Kamjong and Tamu, the Somrah haat is the only Naga dominated border haat.
They resolved to apprise their respective Governments for immediate construction of border haat in the greater interest of the people.
They asserted that Nagas must be consulted before taking up any development programme or extraction resources from Naga areas.
The team had a warm consultation with many leaders of Myanmar.
They have agreed to hold alfresco get together at the border area of Somrah in the beginning of the year.
The two sides will be represented by the prominent leaders of the area for holding coordination and also a step toward unity of the Naga.
