Imphal, July 01 2022:
The State celebrated Rath Yatra (Kang) after a gap of two years, today with many Hindu devotees taking out a ceremonial procession called Kang Chingba at different places.
The Rath Yatra was stalled for the last two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The biggest celebration was held at Shree Shree Govindaji Temple in the attendance of Chief Minister N Biren Singh and Rajya Sabha MP Leisemba Sanajaoba.
There, a number of Hindu devotees pulled the chariot carrying the idols of Lord Jaganath, Balabhadra and Subhadra by singing devotional songs while people offered fruits and sweets to the deities.

A similar celebration was also organised by International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) as Hindu priests pulled the decorated chariot of Lord Jaganath and his sibling deities along the Airport Road.
Apart from taking out the procession and performing rites and rituals, sharing the prasad of the Lord in the form of Khichri is a feature of the festival.
