Sangai Students' Merit Award presented Meritorious students feted at different places

The 2nd Sangai Students' Merit Award ceremony and Wildlife Quiz Competition 2014 was held at Moral Guidance English School, Komlakhong today.
The event was jointly organised by the Wildlife Wing, Forest Dept and Moral Guidance English School.
Meritorious students of Class X and XII exams of Keibul Lamjao area were honoured during
the programme.
Th Mohendra Pratap Singh, Conservator of Forests (Wildlife Central Circle) and Chairman of Sangai Students' Merit Award Committee; Asem Jila Singh, Headmaster, Moral Guidance Eng School; L Joykumar Singh, Dy Conservator of Forest/Park and Sanctuary and Secretary Sangai Students' Merit Award Committee; Dr Khangenbam Shamungou Singh, Wildlife activist and member IUCN; Asem (O) Sandhyarani Devi, Pradhan, Laphupat Tera Komlakhong GP and Md Abdul Satar, Up-Pradhan, Laphupat Tera Komlakhong GP attended the function as the chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.

Speaking at the occasion, Th Mohendra Pratap Singh asserted that protecting Sangai is preserving the environment; to improve the habitat of Sangai is improving the environment of the State.
He said that rampant deforestation, pollution of water and air and killing of wild animals have adverse affect on the environment.
As such, people need education for protection of the environment.
Manipur is better known in the outside world for being a home of a rare and endangered species, Sangai.
As such, people particularly students around Keibul Lamjao should take active role in preserving the habitat of Sangai.
A total of 30 meritorious students in and around Keibul Lamjao were feted during the occasion besides holding a quiz competition for high school students.
Plantation of tree saplings also marked the occasion.
In another function, Life Coaching Centre has feted its students who are among the top ten and subject toppers of the HSLC exam 2014 conducted by BSEM today at its campus located at Ghari Makha Leikai.
Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam; CEO and Additional Chief Secretary, Oinam Nabakishore and Principal of St Joseph's School, Imphal Rev Jiten Hubert graced the felicitation function as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Students who scored high marks in the State level preparatory HSLC mock test 2014 were also feted on the occasion.
Meanwhile, the Academic Incentive Award Committee (AIACO) has organised a felicitation function for students of Mayang Imphal area who secured first division in the HSLC and HSSLC exams 2014 today at Public Community Hall, Mayang Imphal Bazar.
Works and Transport Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar and Parliamentary Secretary (Minor Irrigation & IPR), K Meghachandra graced the felicitation programme as the chief guest and president respectively.
Parliamentary Secretary Vungzagin Valte; Vice Chairman of HAC, Z Kikhonbou Newmai and Chairman of Mayang Imphal Municipal Council Th Rajmohan Meetei attended the programme as the guests of honour.
25 HSLC students and 4 HSSLC students of the area who secured first division were feted on the occasion.
