Imphal, November 30 2019:
Stressing on the need to reaffirm the resolution for unity which was adopted on November 30, 1947, CPI Manipur State Council secretary L Sotin-kumar has claimed that there is nor reason or meaning for the existence of a State called Manipur if administration based on ethic lines and full autonomy is given away to all communities.
He made the statement during the 72nd Ching-Tam Ningshing Meefam, which was organised by CPI MSC at Manipur Dramatic Union (MDU) hall today.

Sotinkumar continued that the event has been organised remembering the works and contributions of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot towards uniting the hills and the valley as well as the meeting which was held at MDU hall on this same day in 1947, leading to the formation of a united front, for bringing unity between the hills and the valley.
He remarked that currently, the Naga peace talks is a serious issue and asked what will be the significance of the existence of Manipur if all the communities start demanding their own administration.
The CPI views the Framework Agreement as a grave threat to the State and this threat drive home the need for the people to reaffirm the resolution which was taken for the unity of the hills and the valley on November 30, 1947, he added, questioning if the Centre can bring development and progress uniformly by giving full autonomy to all the communities residing in the State.
On the other hand, CPI National executive member Dr M Nara said that during the time of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot, the State was faced with serious issues similar to the current situation brought by the Naga peace talks and CAB.
At that time, he took the responsibility of uniting the hills and the valley to bring peace and tranquillity by inviting the leaders of the hills and adopting many resolutions and forming a united front, Dr Nara explained.
