Centre's nod sought for new Moreh line

The newly constructed office complexes of Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sub-divisional Office and Block Development Office at Moreh have been inaugurated today at the border town.
The offices were jointly inaugurated by Works & Transport Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar and Rural Development Panchayati Raj Minister Francis Ngajokpa.
Parliamentary Secretary for Youth Affairs and Sports, and Tourism M Prithiviraj, Tengnoupal AC MLA DK Korungthang, Chandel Autonomous District Council Chairman Lhukhosei Zou and PWD Chief Engineer also attended the inauguration programme.
Addressing the gathering, comprising of people from different communities, Works Minister Ratankumar informed that a proposal has been sent to develop the Heirok-Khudengthabi-Moreh road under the funding from the Prime Minister's Special Package.
The said road section on completion will not only shorten the Imphal-Moreh distance by about 14-15 kilometres but will also ensure smoother travel as the said route passes through friendly terrain, said the Minister while conveying that work will begin as soon as the proposal is accepted.

Pointing out that as Chandel district will be an important component of India's ambitious Look East Policy Government of Manipur is chalking out special plan to take up various development projects in the district, he also maintained that Moreh being a vital link for trade with south east asian countries the Government is working on a master plan to expand roads of the border town among others.
Noting ever increasing population of Moreh and the need for developing the town inclusive of basic amenities, Ratankumar confided that engineers concerned have been instructed to prepare a road development project proposal for submission to the North East Council to fund the project.
While assuring the gathering that some important roads of Moreh would be developed on priority basis, the Works Minister affirmed that incomplete portion of the Imphal-Moreh road would be completed within this year.
In his address, Minister Francis Ngajokpa called upon the citizens of Moreh to extend cooperation in ensuring smooth functioning of the ADC office and other administrative facilities.
Stating that development of the new office complexes is to ensure speedy development works in the border town, he also advised all concerned for judicious implementation of NREGS projects.
speaking at the occasion, MLA Korungthang said with the inauguration of the new offices employees should discharge assigned tasks in a diligent manner through regular office attendance.
