Ougri 2016 begins amidst cultural extravaganza

Imphal, March 31 2016:
Annual techno-cultural event of National Institute of Technology (NIT), Manipur, Ougri 2016 began today at NIT campus, Langol.
The inaugural session of Ougri 2016 was attended by Chief Secretary O Nabakishore and Director of NIT, Manipur Dr S Birendra Singh as the chief guest and president respectively.
Registrar of the institute RK Lalit Singh and Academic Dean Dr Kh Manglem Singh were the guests of honour.
The festival's theme for this is 'Carnival of serenity.'

Speaking at the occasion, O Nabakishore exuded confidence that the festival will go a long way in bonding better relations among the students and foster the spirit of friendship and love among them.
He said that most of the alumni of NIT, Manipur have found jobs in big companies.
This testifies that NIT, Manipur is making progress in the right and desired direction.
Dr N Birendra Singh said that the festival will act as a platform to groom the personality and general conduct of the students.
He also urged the students to equally give importance to extracurricular activities.
He said that construction of a cricket ground and badminton court will be completed soon in the campus.
Presentation of colourful cultural items and performance from popular musical group 'Lai Hui' marked the inaugural session today.
