Imphal, December 31 2015 :
The Railway Ministry has approved construction of a new railway line from Khongsang, Tamenglong district to Dimapur, Nagaland, said BJP Manipur Pradesh executive member Adim Panmei.
Speaking to media persons at their Nityaipat Chuthek office here today, Adim Panmei said that they called upon Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on December 28 and reviewed the work progress of Jiribam-Tupul railway work.
The State delegates proposed a new railway project which would connect Khongsang to Dimapur and the Railway Minister approved the same proposal.
Suresh Prabhu assured that necessary fund would be incorporated in the next Union Budget for construction of broad gauge railway line from Khongshang to Dimapur via Kaikho, Bamgaijang, Dilhuan, Tabanglong, Tamenglong, Dailong, Tamei, Dikiulam and Konphung, claimed Adim Panmei who contested the last Assembly election from Nungba Assembly segment.
He went on to decry that no noteworthy development works have been accomplished in the hill districts of Manipur during the past 12 years of Congress rule.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam never bothers to find out the grievances and aspirations of the people of his home constituency, he claimed.
As he opted for helicopter service rather than travelling by road to meet people ofhis home district, the Deputy Chief Minister has no idea about the plight of the people of Tamenglong district, he asserted.
When a public leader does not bother to listen to the grievances and complaints of public, he is no longer fit to remain a public leader.
Since the Congress party came to power in the State, Tamenglong district has degenerated into the most backward district of the country, Adim Panmei decried.
He also prayed that the new year may bring peace, cordiality and progress to all the people of Manipur.
General Secretary (administration) M Ashnikumar said that the 10 years of Congress rule is a dark period for Manipur.
He also wished speedy development and a secure environment with the arrival of new year.
Reacting to Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam's comparison of BJP to bubbles, Ashnikumar compared Congress party to a dead tree .
BJP Manipur Pradesh media affairs secretary L Basanta was also present at the press meet.
