Imphal, December 31 2014 : Based on specific intelligence regarding movement of UG cadres, troops of 30 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) along with Heingang police launched a joint operation in the general area of Pangei and apprehended an active cadre of PREPAK (Pro) yesterday.

The apprehendee was identified as No 134030, SS Lt Yumlembam Arjun Singh alias Chingkhei (30), resident of Sugnu Mayai Leikai, according to a statement issued by the PRO of IGAR (S) .

On a follow up operation one over ground worker of PREPAK (Pro) identified as Soibam Shyamchand Singh (41) S/o (L) S Ibocha Singh resident of Haraorou Maning Leikai was apprehended from Haraorou today.

One AK-56 rifle along with magazine, one 9 mm pistol along with magazine, thirty live rounds of AK-56 rifle and eight live rounds of 9mm pistol were recovered from his possession, it said.

The apprehendees have been handed over to Heingang PS.

In another operation, troops of 40 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) along with Imphal East police commandos launched a joint operation in the general area of Arapati and apprehended one arms smuggler yesterday.

The apprehendee was identified as Th Henery Singh alias Jack (32) S/o Th Guneshwor Singh, resident of Kwakeithel Mayai Koibi Chabungbam Leikai.

One 7.65 pistol (made in USA) along with magazine, one live round of 9 mm, one mobile phone with two SIM cards and a Kinetic Honda bearing registration number MN 05 7752 were recovered from his possession, the PRO statement said.

In a follow up operation another arms smuggler identified as Thingom Joychandra Singh (37) s/o Th Saratchandra, resident of Khurai Chaithabi Leirak was apprehended from the general area of Khurai Chaithabi Leirak.

The apprehendees have been handed over to Irilbung PS.
