Noney, October 30 2024:
The Rongmei Naga Students' Organization Manipur (RNSOM) has submitted a memorandum to Education Minister Thounaojam Basanta Kumar with requests to activate the DIET Centre at Noney and take measures to improve the Government schools in Rongmei Naga areas.
The memorandum bearing the signature of Robert Phaomeih, general secretary, RNSOM, pointed out that despite the inauguration of the DIET Centre at Noney by Chief Minister N Biren Singh on February 4, 2023, the Centre has remained non-functional.
RNSOM has urged the Education Minister to take steps to activate the Centre at the earliest so that it can begin providing essential teacher training and educational support, which is crucial for the upliftment of educational standards.
Additionally, the memorandum shed light on the challenges faced by Government schools in Rongmei areas.
It enumerated issues such as inadequate infrastructure, lack of trained teachers and insufficient educational resources.
RNSOM maintained that these issues severely impact the quality of education provided to the students.
Thus, the memorandum urged the Education Minister to look into these matters and take necessary steps to improve the conditions of Government schools to ensure a brighter future for the students in these areas.
