Imphal, October 30 2020:
Farmers have raised questions on the revised rate of forest produce 2020 published by the State Government on October 10 .
ACOAM Lup in a statement that the question has been raised especially on the steep hike in the rate of cinnamon which is one of the sought after products in the market.
As per the revised rate the State royalty rate of cinnamon has been set at Rs 90 per Kg.
However, the royalty rate used to be Rs 10 into 60 percent for inter-State permit and 5 percent GST.
Raising concern over the steep hike in taxes, ACOAM Lup said this will hinder the export of cinnamon from the State and it would not be marketable as there is huge price difference compared with other North Eastern States.
Further, ACOAM-Lup urged the State Govt to form a committee to review the matter at the earliest and analyze the market potential thoroughly.
